This directory contains a number of scripts mentioned in the text of
"The Complete FreeBSD", second edition, including files to install the
sample desktop described in Chapter 15. See that chapter for further
information.

Before installation, you should have the CD-ROM with the packages
collection mounted, or at least the packages should be accessible: the
script will prompt if it can't find the CD-ROM.

If you run the script as user root, it will prompt for the names of
users for whom the configuration files should be installed. If you
run it as non-root, the installation of the packages will probably
fail, unless you have heavily modified the system file permissions.
In any case, after attempting to install the packages, it will install
the configuration files for you only.

Thanks for reading this. To run the script, type

  . /book/scripts/install-desktop

You can run the script install-rcfiles to just install the
configuration files, but you don't need to if you run install-desktop,
which runs it automatically.
